Safeguarding Policy

1. Purpose and Commitment

At inTuition Academy, we are wholeheartedly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children in line with the Children Act 1989 and 2004, Working Together 2018, and The Domestic Abuse Act 2021. We strive to create an environment wherein children grow up experiencing provision of both safe and efficient care, and where any form of maltreatment is prevented. Our ultimate aim involves taking necessary actions to enable all children to achieve desirable outcomes.

2. Scope

This policy extends to all parties involved at inTuition Academy, including directors, tutors, volunteers, parents and guardians, as well as service users, irrespective of their role or capacity.

3. Accountability

We at inTuition Academy maintain a high level of accountability concerning children’s safeguarding arrangements. Moreover, we place substantial importance on involving children and their families in decisions that may affect their well-being.

4. Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO)

We have designated professionals experienced in safeguarding at our institutes. These individuals support other professionals in understanding children’s needs and potential dangers of abuse or neglect. They are given the necessary support and time to effectively fulfil safeguarding duties.

5. Safeguarding Practices

We adhere to safe recruitment practices, conducting DBS checks and validating qualifications for anyone who will regularly interact with children. Additionally, we provide continuous supervision and support for our staff, including safeguarding training essential to fulfil their responsibilities towards children effectively.

6. Staff Conduct and Whistleblowing

Our staff adheres to defined codes of conduct to ensure the safety of the child is prioritized. We have established distinct procedures to address any allegation against our team members. Our well-documented whistleblowing procedure encourages transparent reporting of any issue concerning safeguarding regulations.

7. Procedures and Policies

We implement child-centric procedures that highlight our commitment to safeguarding children, focusing on their needs as a priority and ensuring their welfare before a problem escalates. Our staff understand and respect the importance of sharing appropriate information timely, and our expert judgement ensures that each child’s needs are at the heart of our safeguarding system.

8. Data Handling & Training

Our data handling processes comply with data protection legislation to ensure secure and professional recording and storing of information. New staff are given mandatory induction to familiarise with safeguarding responsibilities, and we ensure regular reviews of our practices to improve over time.

9. Physical Environment and Online Safety

We make every effort to provide a safe physical and online environment for our children and staff by meeting all health and safety laws and regulatory instructions. We have effective online safety policies and procedures to ensure the child’s safety in the digital world.

10. Anti-Bullying and Complaints

We maintain an anti-bullying environment with a clear policy to manage any bullying effectively. We also have an efficient complaint management system that allows issues to be dealt with promptly and effectively.
